Set in the 1990s, Seagrass is a quiet family drama that takes place on a small island off the Pacific Northwest Coast. Hama-Brown’s own script and debut feature film, starring Ally Maki and Luke Roberts. Evocatively captured on film with graceful cinematography by Norm Li.

The story was reflected in wardrobe progressions such as lead Judith’s shift from linear, square silhouettes and vertical stripes to represent her emotional imprisonment to flowing, easeful looks emblemizing her character’s unravelling.  Sherbet colours were used to portray the joy of childhood, and to punctuate the glorious green Westcoast frame.
